Youth protesters in India demand education minister resignation

Thousands of young people marched to India's parliament in July 2026, calling for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. A group called the Cockroach Janta Party organised the protests. It started as a satirical online movement just months earlier but grew quickly among young people. One protest leader began a hunger strike on June 28 at Jantar Mantar, a well-known site in central Delhi. He was later moved to a hospital. Protesters demanded his release. The demonstrations were centred in Delhi and turned violent at some point during the march.
