Woman found dead hanging from tree in Jackson Mississippi

The body of Tasia Fortune, 29, was found hanging from a tree in Jackson, Mississippi, on August 3, 2026. She was discovered in the backyard of an empty house on Road of Remembrance in west Jackson. Police questioned a 65-year-old man from the same street and arrested him on a separate weapons charge. He told police he had argued with Fortune two days before her death but said he did not kill her. Authorities have not said whether they think she was murdered or took her own life.
