Wildfire near Reno forces ninety thousand people to evacuate

A fast-moving wildfire forced around 90,000 people to leave their homes near Reno, Nevada on Sunday. The fire started on Saturday morning and quickly spread through dry brush, pushed by strong winds. About 42,000 residents had to leave immediately, and 45,000 more were warned to be ready to go. The fire destroyed houses in northwest Reno and jumped over fire trucks, making it very hard to fight. At least six people were injured. Authorities said the fire was caused by humans, but gave no further details. Nevada declared a state of emergency and sent in the National Guard. By Monday afternoon, firefighters had contained 27% of the fire, which had burned around 10,500 acres.
