White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announces departure in August

Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, will leave her job at the end of August 2026. President Trump shared the news on Truth Social on August 12. Leavitt said she wants to spend more time with her family. She had her second baby in May and had only recently come back from maternity leave. Trump praised her work and said she will continue as one of his top outside advisers. He also called her an important voice in the Republican Party. Leavitt was the youngest person ever to hold the press secretary role. She previously worked in the White House during Trump's first term. Trump has not yet named anyone to replace her.
