Warren Buffett redirects $6 billion donation away from Gates Foundation

Warren Buffett has given nearly $6 billion in Berkshire Hathaway shares to four foundations run by his children. He did not include the Gates Foundation this year, which is unusual. This is the first time since 2006 that the Gates Foundation has not received his yearly donation.

Buffett said he is waiting for lawyers to finish a review of the Gates Foundation's past connections to Jeffrey Epstein. He resigned from the foundation's board in 2021 but kept donating until now. Before 2026, he had given the Gates Foundation a total of $36 billion.

Buffett has also said he plans to give away all his remaining Berkshire Hathaway shares by the end of 2034. Those donations will go to his family foundations.
