Voice actor Peter Cullen dies at age 85 in Los Angeles

Peter Cullen, the Canadian voice actor best known for playing Optimus Prime in the Transformers series, has died at the age of 85. He passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday, August 26, surrounded by family. His agent confirmed the death but gave no cause.

Cullen first voiced Optimus Prime in the animated television series of the 1980s. He continued in the role for over forty years, including the live-action films that began in 2007. Many fans grew up hearing his voice.

Beyond Transformers, he voiced the sad donkey Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh, worked as an announcer on a popular television show, and created sound effects for several well-known films.
