Vehicle strikes crowd at Berlin Pride event, killing one person

A car drove into a crowd at Berlin's Pride celebrations on Saturday night, killing one person and injuring at least 16 others. The attack happened in Tiergarten Park during the Christopher Street Day event, just before 10:00 p.m. The driver then ran away on foot. Some victims also had stab wounds. Several people are in a critical condition. Police are searching for a suspect who they say has links to Islamist groups and was already known to them. The annual Pride event, which brings together thousands of LGBTQ+ people each year, was cancelled after the attack. Berlin has seen similar vehicle attacks before, including one in 2018 in the city of Muenster, where five people died.
