USCGC Eagle tall ship arrives in Baltimore for Maryland anniversary celebrations

The USCGC Eagle, a historic U.S. Coast Guard sailing ship, arrived at Baltimore Inner Harbor on June 25, 2026, as part of celebrations marking America's 250th anniversary.

The vessel, which is nearly 300 feet long and carries three masts, is the only square-rigged ship still in active U.S. government service. It was originally built in Germany in 1936 and came into American hands after the Second World War. The U.S. Coast Guard has used it to train cadets in traditional seamanship ever since.

During training voyages, the ship carries up to 150 cadets alongside its regular crew. It also acts as a floating ambassador for the Coast Guard, representing the United States at public events and international gatherings. At U.S. ports, it always leads the Parade of Sail.
