US envoys plan first Kyiv visit after Moscow negotiations

US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to visit Kyiv in April 2026, shortly after Orthodox Easter on April 12. The head of Ukraine's Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, announced the planned trip. It would be the first time either envoy has travelled to the Ukrainian capital, though both have met Ukrainian officials in the United States. Witkoff and Kushner have previously made several trips to Moscow to meet President Vladimir Putin. Senator Lindsey Graham may also join the delegation. Ukraine wants clear security guarantees from the US to stop future Russian attacks as part of any peace deal. American officials have not confirmed the visit, saying only that it is under discussion. Peace talks between the two countries stalled after recent military events in the Middle East.
