University band marks 80 years with multi-generational performers

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff marching band has turned 80 years old. The band, known as the Marching Musical Machine of the Mid-South, is an HBCU ensemble with a long history of training talented musicians.

John Graham Jr. has led the band for more than 30 years. Before that, he was the first Black drum major at Little Rock Central High School. Graham Jr. recruited Paul Campbell from Detroit 25 years ago, offering him a full scholarship to play snare drum. This year, Campbell's son Ian joined the band as a new member.

The band has performed at well-known venues, including SoFi Stadium and the Caesars Superdome. It also played at President Barack Obama's inaugural parade and a WWE event.
