United States strikes Iranian wedding, Iran retaliates with missiles and drones

The U.S. military struck targets in Iran on September 1, 2026, and Iran fired back with missiles and drones at sites across the region. One U.S. strike hit a house in Kuhestak, in southern Iran, where a wedding was taking place. Five people died, including a child, and at least 68 others were wounded. Iranian state media said U.S. strikes also hit civilian areas along the southern coast and a civilian airport. The two countries have been in an on-and-off conflict for more than six months. A ceasefire was agreed in June, but both sides have continued to strike each other over alleged violations. President Trump said the U.S. will carry out more strikes in response to Iran's attack.
