United States imposes naval blockade on Iranian ports and conducts military strikes

The United States has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports and launched military strikes on Iran. American forces stopped Iranian-linked oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. Marines boarded several ships to enforce the blockade. Three other vessels that tried to pass through were turned back, and one ship that refused to stop was disabled. F-35 jets also struck port facilities inside Iran. Iran responded by declaring the strait closed. An Iranian military spokesperson said the U.S. must agree to a memorandum of understanding before the strait reopens. President Trump warned that strikes will increase if Iran does not reach a deal. About one-fifth of the world's oil and gas travels through the Strait of Hormuz.
