United States and Saudi Arabia sign nuclear cooperation agreement

The United States and Saudi Arabia signed a nuclear cooperation deal in November 2024. Energy Secretary Chris Wright confirmed the agreement at a White House meeting between President Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The deal would allow American companies to help build Saudi Arabia's civilian nuclear programme. Saudi Arabia could also develop the ability to enrich uranium and sell it to the US nuclear industry. The agreement includes rules to prevent nuclear weapons development, but it still needs approval from Congress. Some experts are worried because enriched uranium can be used to make weapons. Saudi Arabia has large uranium reserves and wants nuclear energy to meet its growing power needs.
