United States and Iran exchange military strikes on ships and island

The United States and Iran attacked each other's ships and military sites in the Persian Gulf last weekend. US forces disabled two Iranian oil tankers and destroyed a third near Kharg Island. Iran said it hit three US-linked vessels and three tankers that were using the Strait of Hormuz without permission. On Sunday, US forces bombed Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island. Iran reported that both soldiers and civilians were killed in that strike. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has promised to respond. US Central Command said Iranian forces had attacked two American warships before the US replied. The two countries had been relatively quiet for about a month before fighting started again last week.
