UK haulage companies collapse under rising costs and financial pressure

JKM Transport Solutions, a family haulage firm based in West Lothian, Scotland, went into administration on 29 June 2026. The company had only been operating since 2021. JKM is one of more than fifteen haulage businesses across the UK that have collapsed since May 2025. Seven companies alone failed in September 2025.

Businesses in the sector have struggled with rising fuel prices, expensive insurance, and high staff costs. Many have also lost important contracts or waited too long for customers to pay their invoices. Some of the firms that closed had been running for decades.

Each closure has meant job losses, typically between twenty and forty workers per company. The Road Haulage Association had already warned that more businesses would become insolvent during 2026.
