Uganda withdraws from Invictus Games citing respect for King Charles

Uganda has pulled out of the Invictus Games, just two months after joining the competition. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the country's military chief and son of President Yoweri Museveni, made the announcement on X. He said Uganda did not want to appear opposed to King Charles III. The general added that Uganda would not take part in anything the King had not approved. The Invictus Games is a sports event for injured and sick military veterans. Prince Harry runs the organisation, and Britain will host the games in 2027. Royal sources say King Charles supports the competition because it helps wounded service personnel. Uganda had only joined the games in July 2026.
