Two firefighting helicopters collide during Greece wildfire operation

Two firefighting helicopters crashed into each other on Sunday near Psatha, west of Athens, Greece. The two Bell helicopters were working together to fight an active wildfire when one hit the other's propellers. One helicopter caught fire, and both fell into a ravine. Two crew members died: a Greek coordinator and a Danish pilot. Two others were found unconscious, and some suffered minor injuries. Each helicopter had a crew of two people. Greece was already dealing with several wildfires that week, driven by strong winds and extreme heat. More than 10,000 hectares of land burned, and over 100 homes were destroyed near Athens. Nearly 500 firefighters and 23 aircraft were deployed, including crews from France and Romania.
