Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan sign joint defense agreement

The leaders of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan signed a joint defense agreement in Mecca on August 7, 2026. Turkish President Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif all put their names to the deal. The agreement is called the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement. It says that if one country is attacked, all three will treat it as an attack on themselves. The pact also includes plans for sharing military intelligence and working together on defense projects. A Turkish official said the agreement is defensive only and does not cancel existing deals between the countries. Other countries in the region are welcome to join.
