Trump endorses Netanyahu in Israeli election campaign

US President Donald Trump has backed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu days before Israel's election on October 27. Trump posted his support on his Truth Social platform, calling Netanyahu a great leader and a partner for peace. He also warned that without Netanyahu, the United States would have to deal with Iran alone, which he said he does not want. Netanyahu has been fighting to keep his job. It is his first election since the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, which killed around 1,200 people. Israeli voters remain divided over how his government handled that attack. Opinion polls suggest neither Netanyahu nor his opponents will easily win enough seats to govern. Netanyahu thanked Trump for his strong support.
