Trump announces 15-month closure of historic Washington golf course for renovation

President Trump said on Sunday that East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C. will close and be rebuilt. The closure is planned to start on November 15. Trump said the work will take about 15 months. Golf course designer Tom Fazio created the new plans. Trump has already told professional golf organisations about the project. However, a preservation group and two golfers have taken the case to court because they oppose the changes. A federal judge has ordered government officials to explain recent tree-cutting at the site. A court hearing was scheduled for Monday, the day after Trump made his announcement. His public statement has made the legal situation more complicated for the administration.
