Trump administration seeks replacement for departing press secretary Leavitt

Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, will leave her job at the end of August 2026. President Trump announced her departure, and Leavitt said she wants to spend more time with her family. She has held the role for most of Trump's second term and will be the second-longest-serving press secretary of his presidency, after Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Steven Cheung, the White House Communications Director, is the most likely person to replace her. He already covered some of her duties when she was on maternity leave. Other staff members, including Anna Kelly and Taylor Rogers, are also being considered for the position.
