Transportation Secretary Duffy stars in sponsored road trip series with family

US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy filmed a YouTube travel series with his family last year, and ethics questions have followed. The five-part show, called "The Great American Road Trip," featured eight journeys across the United States. A nonprofit group paid for costs including car rentals, hotels, flights, and activities like skiing and whitewater rafting. Several large companies sponsored the project, including Boeing, Toyota, United Airlines, and Royal Caribbean. Many of these companies are regulated by Duffy's own department and have recently faced government investigations. The American Bus Association alone contributed $100,000. Duffy said in August 2026 that the series needed extra editing to meet government ethics rules. The Department of Transportation posted the series on YouTube in May 2026.
