Tesla ends permanent FSD sales, shifts to subscription model only

Tesla will stop selling its Full Self-Driving software as a one-time purchase after February 14, 2026. After that date, customers will only be able to pay a monthly fee of $99. The one-time purchase currently costs $8,000. A monthly subscription adds up to about $1,188 per year, so a customer would need roughly seven years of payments to reach that same amount. Tesla already has 1.48 million active subscribers, which is 56% more than a year ago. Together, these subscribers bring in around $1.8 billion per year. This software business earns much higher profit margins than selling electric cars. Tesla's total annual revenue is about $94.8 billion, so FSD is still a small part of the whole.
