Ten nations launch joint European missile defense initiative

Ten countries signed an agreement in Paris on 13 July 2026 to build a shared missile defence system. The group includes Ukraine, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and six other European nations.

The coalition wants to create a defence network that works across all member countries. Right now, European air defence systems work separately, which leaves gaps in protection. The new system will be cheaper and faster to build than existing solutions.

Ukraine joined because it has direct experience defending against Russian missile attacks. The countries will share technology and research to develop the system together.
