Teacher corrects record after being credited with stopping school shooter

A teacher in Oregon has disputed a heroic story told about her after a school shooting. The attack happened at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend. A 16-year-old shooter killed three children and teacher Megan Lambert, aged 25. At least two other people were wounded.

Special education teacher Becky Drury was said to have covered a seven-year-old girl with her body to protect her from gunfire. But Drury, speaking from hospital, said she was shot before she could do anything to help. She remembered hearing noise and going into the hallway to look. A father who was nearby chased and killed the attacker. Another person reportedly threw a phone at the shooter and took his shotgun away.
