Taylor Farms lettuce linked to multistate cyclospora outbreak at Taco Bell

Shredded iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms has been linked to a cyclospora outbreak across several US states in 2024. The lettuce was delivered to Taco Bell restaurants in Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana. At least 400 confirmed cases were connected to these locations. Cyclospora is a tiny parasite that infects the intestines and causes serious stomach illness. Investigators identified lettuce as the food that sick people had in common. Nationwide, nearly 7,000 cases have been confirmed or are under investigation since May 1. The CDC and FDA have both been working to find the source of the contamination. The outbreak shows how quickly illness can spread when contaminated food moves through a national supply chain.
