Republican Senator Susan Collins and Democratic challenger Troy Jackson held their final debate in Maine on Thursday, October 15.
Collins is trying to win a sixth term. She has represented Maine for five terms as a Republican in a state that backed Kamala Harris in 2024. Jackson is a former state Senate president. He replaced an earlier candidate who left the race after a scandal.
The main argument was about Collins's relationship with President Trump. Jackson said she has not stood up to him enough. Collins pointed to her votes for three liberal Supreme Court justices as proof of her independence.
