Republican Senator Susan Collins and Democratic challenger Troy Jackson held their first debate on Tuesday in Maine's 2024 Senate race.
Jackson attacked Collins over her vote on Trump's tax bill, saying she helped cause a problem and then took small steps to fix it. Collins pushed back, saying Jackson had a weak record on Maine's cost of living over 20 years in state politics.
On abortion, Collins said she has always supported the right to choose. Jackson criticised her vote to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, whose confirmation helped end that right nationally.
