Student opens fire at Bangkok school, killing multiple people

A student shot and killed at least six people at Debsirin School in Nonthaburi, near Bangkok, on August 7, 2026. The gunman then died by suicide. At least 15 other people were injured in the attack. Police say the student killed his grandparents at home before going to the school. The school is in the Bang Kruai district, on the edge of the Thai capital. School shootings are very rare in Thailand, so the attack has shocked the country. Thailand has strict laws against illegal gun ownership, with penalties of up to ten years in prison. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number of deaths, with some reports putting the figure as high as eight.
