Stephen Fleming appointed England Test cricket coach with goal to reach number one ranking

Stephen Fleming has been appointed as England's new men's Test cricket coach. The New Zealander has set himself two clear goals. First, he wants to take England to the top of the world Test rankings. Second, he wants to beat Australia in the Ashes, the famous series between the two countries.

Fleming said he shares English cricket's strong focus on the Ashes. He has spoken with enthusiasm about the challenge of competing against Australia. Test cricket rankings show how well a team performs in the longest form of the game.

England's decision to appoint Fleming shows the team is serious about improving. Reaching number one in the world rankings would be a major achievement for any Test side.
