Small tourist plane crashes in Peru, killing 13 people

A small tourist plane crashed in southern Peru on Saturday, killing all 13 people on board. The aircraft was flying over the Nazca Lines, a famous ancient site, when it went down near the city of Nazca at around 1pm local time. Eleven of those on board were foreign tourists from Italy, Germany, and Spain. The other two were crew members. The plane caught fire after it hit the ground, so rescuers could not reach the passengers in time. Four bodies had been recovered when the story was first reported. The plane belonged to Peruvian company Aerodiana, which has run sightseeing flights over the site for 14 years. Investigators are now trying to find out what caused the crash.
