Serial sex offender convicted of murdering two London women after police failures

A man with a long history of sex crimes has been found guilty of killing two women in London. Simon Levy, 40, murdered Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo in March 2025 and Sheryl Wilkins in August 2025. He also raped a third woman in January 2025. Levy was a registered sex offender who had been convicted of sexual assaults many times since 2018. Police and courts had contact with him before the murders but did not stop him. After Valencia-Trujillo's body was found, DNA evidence connected Levy to her death. However, police released him without charge and did not open a murder investigation. The Metropolitan Police has apologised to the victims' families and admitted that multiple agencies failed. An official investigation into those failures is now under way.
