Scaffolding collapses on Hong Kong building during Typhoon Noul

Scaffolding fell from a high-rise building under construction in Hong Kong on Saturday afternoon, as Typhoon Noul moved toward southern China. The collapse happened on Cheung Sha Wan Road in Kowloon at around 4:11 pm. Several floors of scaffolding came down and hit a structure below. Police received many calls about the incident, but no one was hurt.

Earlier the same day, strong winds blew a loose metal gate at a building site on Hoi Yuen Road in Kwun Tong. The gate struck a pedestrian, though the person did not need an ambulance.

Typhoon Noul was the strongest typhoon to reach China so far in 2026. The two incidents showed how dangerous construction sites can be when a powerful storm arrives.
