Saudi Arabia closes East-West pipeline after drone attacks from Iraq

Saudi Arabia shut down a major oil pipeline on Friday after drone attacks hit it the day before. The drones were launched from Iraqi territory and struck the pipeline in two regions, Riyadh and Medina. Some people were injured and officials are still measuring the damage. The pipeline normally carries between four and five percent of the world's oil supply. It can move up to seven million barrels of oil each day from the Persian Gulf to the Red Sea. Saudi Arabia said it will not strike back, after Iraq's prime minister called and promised an investigation. Oil prices have already risen to around 110 dollars per barrel. In the United States, diesel fuel has passed six dollars per gallon.
