Sam Fender and Olivia Dean break UK chart record with 19 weeks at number one

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's duet "Rein Me In" has broken a 73-year-old British chart record. The song spent 19 weeks at number one on the UK Official Charts, making it the longest-running number one single in chart history. The previous record was held by Frankie Laine's "I Believe" from 1953.

"Rein Me In" was originally a solo Sam Fender track on his "People Watching" album. In June 2025, he re-recorded it as a duet with Olivia Dean, who wrote a new verse for the song. The track first entered the charts 35 weeks before it reached number one. It climbed back to the top position four times, which has never happened before in UK chart history. A fan campaign encouraging people to buy downloads helped the song achieve the record.
