Sadie Sink cast as Jean Grey in Spider-Man Brand New Day film

Sadie Sink has been cast as Jean Grey in the 2026 film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This is the first time the X-Men character has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the film, Jean Grey is a mutant orphan who is hiding from a government agency called the Department of Damage Control. She starts the story as an enemy of Spider-Man but later becomes his ally. Her final scene shows her travelling to Westchester Academy in New York.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said that mutants will be "core" to the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars, which comes out in December 2027. A separate mutant-focused film is also planned for 2028.
