Ruthie Henshall publishes memoir about five year relationship with Prince Edward

West End actress Ruthie Henshall has published a memoir about her five-year romance with Prince Edward, the youngest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The couple first met in 1988 while both working on Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Cats, where Henshall performed in the chorus. Edward was 23 years old when the relationship began.

The book, called "The Showgirl and the Prince," came out in July and was also printed in sections by The Mail. Henshall says she found old letters and diaries connected to the relationship while sorting through her garage around five years before the book appeared.

The romance ended around 1993, several years before Edward married Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999. Henshall was present at the wedding ceremony, held at Windsor Castle.
