Russian missiles kill 17 in overnight attack on Kyiv

Russia fired more than two dozen missiles at Kyiv and nearby areas overnight, killing at least 17 people and injuring dozens more. Seven locations were hit, including a brewery, warehouses, and a railway station. Fires broke out across the city after the strikes. Ukraine's air defences stopped most of the drones but could not intercept any of the ballistic missiles. President Zelenskyy has called on Western allies to send air defence systems more quickly. He specifically asked for Patriot systems, which are made in the United States. Ukraine has requested advanced military equipment from allied countries many times during the war, because Russian missile attacks on cities have continued throughout the conflict.
