Russian drone strikes Ukrainian security service headquarters in Kyiv

A Russian drone hit the headquarters of Ukraine's security service in central Kyiv on Friday. The building is on Volodymyrska Street, close to St. Sophia Cathedral. Five people were injured in the strike.

The drone targeted the office of Oleksandr Poklad, the acting head of the security service. Black smoke rose from the building after the impact. President Zelensky confirmed that the drone was aimed directly at Poklad's office. He said he spoke with Poklad after the attack and ordered a strong response.

Russia has been attacking Ukraine with drones and missiles throughout the war. Recently, these attacks have moved from night to daytime, using faster jet-powered drones. Friday's strike shows that Russia is now targeting key government buildings in the capital during daylight hours.
