Reform UK announces social housing priority for UK-born citizens

Reform UK announced on Monday that British-born citizens would get priority access to social housing. People born abroad, even if they are British citizens, would wait longer on housing lists. The policy was presented by Nigel Farage's party at a press conference in London.

Some foreign-born British citizens would be exempt, including those born overseas to British parents. Reform also has a separate plan to ban foreign nationals from social housing entirely.

The party says around 540,000 social homes are currently occupied by foreign nationals. Officials admitted the new rules would need new laws to work legally.
