Rebel Wilson wins defamation case against Australian actress Charlotte MacInnes

An Australian court has ruled in favour of Rebel Wilson in a defamation case brought against her in 2025. The actress Charlotte MacInnes sued Wilson over posts Wilson made on Instagram in 2024 and 2025. MacInnes said the posts damaged her reputation. The dispute began after an incident at Bondi Beach in September 2023, which involved a film producer connected to Wilson's first film as a director. Wilson claimed that MacInnes withdrew a sexual harassment complaint against the producer and later received a major record deal. MacInnes denied this. Wilson also denied that she had created a website to attack the producer. The trial lasted three weeks. MacInnes had trained at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
