Prince Harry resigns from African Parks board after ranger abuse findings

Prince Harry left the board of African Parks in August 2026, ahead of his move back to the United Kingdom. He had worked with the conservation charity for around ten years, including six years as its president.

His departure followed serious findings about the charity's rangers in Congo-Brazzaville. An independent investigation found that rangers at Odzala-Kokoua National Park had beaten, raped, and tortured indigenous people in the area. African Parks confirmed these findings publicly in May 2025.

A spokesperson said Harry continues to support the charity's conservation work. African Parks manages around 20 protected areas across 12 African countries. The charity said it has improved its safeguarding procedures at the park and across the organisation since the investigation.
