Prince Harry and six celebrities ordered to pay £9.5m in legal costs

A UK judge has ordered Prince Harry and six other claimants to pay £9.5 million in legal costs to the Daily Mail's publisher, Associated Newspapers Ltd. The seven claimants lost their privacy case against the company in July. They had accused the publisher of gathering personal information about them illegally. Associated Newspapers spent £34 million defending the case and asked for more than £9.9 million back. The judge set the payment at £9.5 million and ruled that costs should be calculated in a way that favours the publisher. The claimants could eventually have to pay up to £34.5 million in total. The initial payment was due by 28 August, and the claimants have until 2 October to try to appeal.
