Prince Harry and Meghan retain Sussex titles while building commercial ventures

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have kept their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles after leaving royal duties in January 2020. Queen Elizabeth II gave them these titles on their wedding day in 2018. The couple moved to the United States and agreed to stop using the "His and Her Royal Highness" styling and the "Sussex Royal" brand for business purposes. However, they remain legally entitled to their titles. Meghan has connected the Sussex name to several commercial projects, including a lifestyle brand called "As Ever" and a Netflix cooking show. When asked about criticism over keeping the titles, Harry told interviewer Anderson Cooper, "And what difference would that make?" Harry also lost his automatic right to armed police protection in the UK after the couple stepped back.
