Porter Airlines flight cancelled after child refuses to fasten seatbelt

A Porter Airlines flight from Victoria to Toronto was cancelled on August 6 because a child would not wear their seatbelt.

The plane had already left the terminal and was moving toward the runway when crew members noticed the child standing in their seat. The crew and the child's parent both tried to get the child to sit down and buckle up, but they were unsuccessful. The plane went back to the terminal and the family was taken off the flight.

Because of the delay, the flight missed the airport's 12:30 a.m. closing time for the runway. The remaining passengers had to rebook on a flight the next day. Porter Airlines said it was not clear how old the child was.
