Pogacar wins fifth Tour de France title, equaling all-time record

Tadej Pogacar of Slovenia won his fifth Tour de France title on Sunday, July 26, 2026. The final stage finished in Paris, where Mathieu van der Poel of the Netherlands crossed the line first. Pogacar, however, had already secured the overall victory by wearing the yellow jersey throughout the race.

With five titles, Pogacar joins a very small group of cycling legends. Only four other riders have ever won the Tour de France five times: Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain. No cyclist has ever won it more than five times.

The Tour de France is the most important race in professional cycling. Pogacar's achievement places him among the greatest cyclists in the history of the sport.
