Pew survey finds China viewed more favorably than US in majority of countries

A new survey shows more people around the world now view China favorably than the United States. The Pew Research Center asked over 42,000 people in 36 countries about their opinions between February and May. In 25 of those countries, China received better ratings than the US. Across 20 countries, 46% of people had a positive view of China, compared to 36% for the US. For two decades, polls had consistently shown the US ahead of China in global opinion. Views were not positive everywhere. In Japan, only 13% of people viewed China favorably, and numbers were similarly low in Australia, India, and South Korea. In Latin American countries, however, more people held positive views of China than negative ones.
