Pentagon orders testosterone screening for service members over 30

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered yearly testosterone checks for military personnel aged 30 and older. He said the tests will help keep soldiers ready for combat.

However, most medical experts disagree. Five of six doctors surveyed by Reuters said they were confused by the decision. Four of them said there is no strong evidence that testing all soldiers for low testosterone improves combat performance.

Doctors also warned that treating low testosterone when it is not necessary can cause real harm. Possible side effects include infertility and mood problems.
