Pakistan Supreme Court orders Imran Khan transferred to hospital from jail

Pakistan's Supreme Court has ordered that former Prime Minister Imran Khan be moved to a hospital for medical checks. Khan, who is 73, has been held in Adiala Jail since August 2023. The transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad must happen within 48 hours. He will stay there until a court hearing on September 16. A team of doctors, including his personal physician, will examine him. The court also ruled that Khan can receive weekly family visits and phone calls with his sons. His family and lawyers had reported health problems, including high blood pressure, anxiety, and loss of vision in one eye. Jail officials had previously told the court that his eyesight had improved and was close to normal.
