Pakistan court orders jailed ex-PM Khan transferred to hospital

Pakistan's Supreme Court has ordered that former Prime Minister Imran Khan be moved to a hospital in Islamabad. The transfer must happen within 48 hours. Khan, who is 73, has been in prison since August 2023. His lawyers say he has lost much of the vision in his right eye. Doctors, including his own physician, will examine him at Shifa International Hospital. The court said he must stay there until at least September 16. Khan's family and his party had asked for this move for months because his health had got worse. He faces charges in more than 100 cases, which he says are politically motivated. The government denies this. The transfer took place under heavy security.
